Patience

This powerful exploration of spiritual fruit challenges us to rethink what it means to live a Christ-like life. At the heart of this message is a crucial distinction found in Galatians 5: Paul speaks of the fruit of the Spirit, not fruits plural. This isn't a spiritual buffet where we pick and choose which characteristics suit our personality. Instead, we're called to cultivate all nine expressions of one unified Christ-like character: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The message confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: if we don't like the fruit our lives are producing, we need to evaluate the root we're connected to. Are we drawing life from our social media feeds, our political affiliations, our ambitions, or from Jesus himself? The imagery is vivid: an apple doesn't strive to become an apple; it simply remains connected to the tree. Similarly, we don't produce spiritual fruit by trying harder but by abiding deeper in Christ. This series launches with patience, reminding us that in our instant-gratification culture, our attitude while waiting reveals the true condition of our hearts. The challenge is clear: we're called to nine for nine, not four for nine, demonstrating that we're genuinely rooted in the life-giving presence of Jesus.
